How did I practice yoga today? It was not on a mat, nor a floor-what a bore! Today I sat in the grass. First week of spring and the Yellow Lantern Magnolias are showing off their dazzlingly large blossoms. I met a friend on the Beltline to practice yoga and enjoy the sunset.
I checked in with my being to see what I needed. I had driven in the car today, and practiced mental yoga-aligning my thoughts with high vibrations. But I had not practiced much physical or spiritual yoga. I felt a lack of energy. A few quick seated asanas loosened my spine. Twists and folds, long inhales and deep exhales. To feel beautifully complete, I turned my awareness to my spiritual being. Spiritual yoga is probably the toughest well to tap-here is my secret-it’s through the breath. Fortunate for me, my friend is an incredible inspiration and creative yogi. As the light of the sun filed the sky in a golden splash, Abhi suggested that it was safe to gaze into the sun's radiance because it was very close to sunset. Repeat three times, 'I Am.' At times it looked blue, eclipsed, or rose colored. The sublime warmth filled me up and grounded me to the Earth. It’s the best possible hug a soul can receive. The practice is safe only very, very near sunrise and sunset. Body, Mind, and Spirit all in Unity. My yoga practice is the synchronicity that all ways of being are in acknowledgment of eternal love.
