"People can't live with change if there's not a changeless core inside them." - 7 Habits I'm really loving this book because it introduces awareness concepts to a business audience that I can also interpret as metaphysical concepts. On a very literal level, it is a fact that change can only be relative to a constant, other wise one would not know that they have changed at all. So what is that unchanging core that grounds us in our individual being?
For Stephen Covey's audience, the core is the self. For me and my audience, I'd like to propose an alternative. I've spent the past two years of my life trying to get to know my 'self.' Traveling, walking, sitting; looking for my 'self.' Recently, I gave up the search for self. I find it to be outside of my circle of influence. Now I set my sights on truth, God-Source energy. My self is what changes and brings me away from my central truth.

"By working on ourselves instead of worrying about conditions, we were able to influence our conditions." - 7 Habits of Highly Effective People I'm seeing subtle evidence of this in my life. It feel like a modern update to Gandhi's famous, "Be the Change,"
This morning I taught a yoga class at a corporate conference center. The attendees could choose yoga or bootcamp for their 6am workout. Only one out of twenty chose yoga. It was an intimate one-on-one class with an excellent soundtrack by Go-Ray & Duke.
My student had familiarity with yoga from dvds and knew that she preferred the gentle postures. We went through standing spinal rotations to seated side stretches. From our warm-ups, I could see she had a great range of flexibility in her shoulders and suggested we work on headstand together. It would be her first attempt. Keep in mind, for a first timer, headstand is best approached fully supported-by your forearms and a wall behind you. The suggestion was an offer to take advantage of my full attention and show this woman that she was capable of more than she previously imagined. I explained that we would learn it in two steps. First, we do a pose to build our confidence. Then, I demonstrate proper arm bracing and full expression of the pose. Then your feet fly off the floor on the first try! As I heard myself explain the process, I saw how it could relate to any challenge in life. Break down the big, scary challenge into a smaller, manageable achievement and boost your confidence with a 'win.' The secret of life is eternal happiness.
It is available in unlimited quantities if you look for it within yourself. Happiness outside if yourself will fade from entropy-the root of all suffering. Today I invested time in making myself more beautiful. Highlighting the light inside me. Beauty is my Joy. It is enough to satisfy me today.
Today I uploaded a new video. I feel proud. And that is enough to feel happy today.
